Throughout this Assignment I will be writing about the different impacts and purposes of Social action and community media. The term social action is when a action is needed to be changed either within a local community, the nation, or globally around the world. So a documentary is made to make people notice about the issue that might not be known by a lot of people or spoken about commonly.

The Purpose is to address the audience of the current issues that currently occur but people don't really notice them and to try and convince them that the issue will become much worse if nothing is going to be done about it or no action is going to be taken. Social action documentary's can impact people from a wide range people from different backgrounds.

Local Change:

Local Change are issues that are based around a community or borough that members of the public may feel like the issue is a concerning issue within the community.
There are many different ways that local change can help and make the negative issue change and lead to a positive outcome in the end of the campaign. For example Surveys, Community parties and workshops can be organised to make a stop to this negative issue and make a positive impact of the community.

One of the examples I have come across that was a issue within a community was a social action campaign that wanted to help save the national media museum. The museum was based in bradford and people from around that community wanted to save the museum from closing down as it tried to get the attention of people around the community that cared enough to save the National media museum.
This impacted many people at the time with the animation as it shows all the different things that you can do in the museum and in result of this campaign, it saved the museum from being shut down

National Change:

A national change is a change that people want to happen within a certain country where issues are addressed to the members of public so they can try to change the issue into a more positive outcome within that country, whether its a charity or a foundation to help stop something wether its smoking or something else within the country.

One of the issue that I researched for a national change is the british heart foundation. The british heart foundation is a national campaign that is around england which aims to keeps hearts healthy and fight against any heart disease that people may be having trouble with.
This has impacted thousands of people as the dialogue between the father and the child is emotional and there is no background sound to make the people talking more relevant and the attention will be towards them and nothing else. This was also shown on TV and so many people would have seen it and may be been impacted.

Global Change

Global change is on a much wider scale then the others as it targets change around the world on issues that many people might have heard of or have a great importance in their lives. These issues are normally known world wide, where in some cases it has a day where it is celebrated around the world like the Red Nose Day which is a day on the 13th of march to support children in need across the world

But the one that went viral last year (2014) where everyone tried to raise money for the less popular disease that not many people have hear of Amyothrophic lateral sclerosis disease. People across the world from major celebrities to local communities poured buckets of freezing cold ice water on to them and then nominated 3 other people to do this challenge, and if they decided not to do it they would have to donate to the charity but people yet donated to the charity even if they did it to support the cause.
This has impacted the ALS organisation and is now a worlwide known disease where as before it wasn't heard of by many people. Celebrities and people have donated over $115 million and saved many lives from this Worldwide challenge that people done for fun.
