Final Film...

Evaluation...

At the start, we had to come up with an idea that we individually had to pitch to the group and then we had to chose which one of the ideas is realistic but also interesting to do. In the end, we chose to do a mixture of Tia's and Mia's Idea as their ideas are original, Simple and realistic to shoot. The final short film is about a person who is being followed by someone, soon to realise that it was herself who was a recovering drug addict. After we chose what idea wanted to do, we went on to choose what roles people are going to have and who the main character will be. After this we went on to fill out a location report where we went around to places where we though would be the best places to shoot the film and whether we needed permission to go and shoot there.

During the filming of the film, I was the camera man in which I was in charge of all the equipment such as the Tri-pod, camera etc, and the shots taken for the film. We shot a variety of different shots from long shots to mid shots to close ups so that we could chose what shots are more appropriate to use in the final edit of our short film. We chose to shoot some close-up shots as they could be inserted into the middle of a clip to make it more dramatic.

When we started to edit our individual films, we found that we needed to take more shots of the therapist to give the film more information and meaning behind the characters, so after we found out that we needed more shots, in the next lesson we had to go out and film some more scenes of the therapist as we felt that the therapist needed to be more exaggerated.

Mis-en-scene/Genre conventions & Narrative structures:
Within the scene displayed there is a variety of mis-en-scene used such as the warning symbol on the fence that shows she's entering somewhere dangerous. The road and cones on the roads shows that there is some construction happening where she is going and could be dangerous. Within the film, I made a decision to not show the pills at the start of the film to make suspense of what it could be and how she could deal with it.

The Genre of this film is a mix of horror and drama as you don't know what could be following her all the time but then later realises that it was her inner-self thats been following her all this time and by the end she looks at her inner self and finds out who has been following her.

This film is a single strand film where she is the only character and is a non-linear film as it has flashbacks throughout the film, this has been done to create suspense for the audience and what could happen next within the film and the story of the film.

The film has a mix of digetic and non-digetic music where some scenes such as the beginning were done using classroom effects that the person could hear such as the the bell ringing at the end of the class. But, the majority of the film uses non-digetic music as there was suspenseful music playing in the background.

The ending of the film was a closed ending as the plot has been resolved and we (the audience) found out who was following her as the ending showed her looking at herself to show she has finally found out what the demon/person was.

Personal Opinions:
Personally, I really like the scene where the girl came out of the bathroom and is going down the stairs and a figure starts following her behind, I like this scene because its very well edited to show the girl running away and the demon/person following her. However, I did not like the lighting of the film as it was very bright and could have been more misty and dark if I added some Video effects.

Throughout the editing process I had to move around the audio clips as they were out of sync with the video and so this made the editing a little harder for me as I had to make the audio in sync with the video and the way the mouth moved, in some of the scenes you could still see that the video was out of sync with the audio a bit. But I tried to make the video entertaining but mysterious at the same time.

One feature film example I looked at and took inspiration from is 'The usual Suspects' as it was a very dramatic and mysterious film and I like the way they edited the film as you wouldn't know what would happen next or the end. However, the one short film that I watched and liked was 'Cargo' as there was no voice over but yet it was full of action and mystery happening within the film and I wanted to create my film with either no voiceover's or very few voice over stuff.

My original expectation for the film was to have it more moody and more dramatic with some more sound effects added into it but however I did like the final piece as you could clearly see the beginning, the middle and the end.
